12 August 2021: Friedrich Goldmann‘s orchestration of J.S. Bach’s ’14 Kanons’ at the BBC Proms – Royal Albert Hall, London. London Philharmonic Orchestra, Vladimir Jurowski.

“The sequence gradually becomes ever more ingenious until added instrumental lines in inversions and different note-lengths produce a truly bizarre level of complexity, even by Bach’s standards. Goldmann’s highly coloured orchestration makes no attempt to be Bachian, but has the merit of clarifying the contrapuntal lines of a piece that sometimes seemed like a musical equivalent of a Rubik’s cube.” (Barry Millington in the Evening Standard)
